Christchurch Yarns NZ Ltd manufactures and markets high quality woollen spun yarns for the carpet industry throughout the world. These yarns are a reflection of the crossbred wools produced from the Romney, Coopworth, Perendale and Border Leicester breeds which feature good colour, crimp, bulkiness, strength and durability.

A carefully planned factory expansion programme, completed in 1986, now enables the company to process up to 240 tonnes of a wide range of yarns each month. The factory today is one of the most modern of its type in the world and includes a state of the art yarn spinning plant and processing technology. Computer control of key processing units ensures the maintenance of consistently high quality standards and optimum efficiency.
Precision in meeting requested delivery dates is aided by the close proximity to the major export port of Lyttelton, and Christchurch International Airport.
In an export-orientated economy like New Zealand's, product quality is paramount and in this respect the company strives to maintain a high standard and tight control over yarn production. It is this commitment to quality control that contributed to Christchurch Yarns NZ Ltd receiving the 1986 New Zealand Export Award.
